July 31 Day 31 Webster SD. to Ortonville MN. 34 Miles 62 climbing

Today we woke up to rain, not heavy rain but it was soggy out. We had a 60 mile day ahead of us.However  there was discussion about the safety of the route. Highway 12 was under some heavy construction. By the time we were getting around to riding it was decided that we should move up the road about 23 miles. Roger, Nancy and Harold decided to ride. At first I was concerned from what we were told, as I watched Nancy ride off I could not help to think, if Nancy could ride I could ride too. However all bikes loaded we went on down the road. By the time we got going skies cleared up and the road did not look hazardous at all. We stopped at a Sinclair Station and hopped on our bikes. It was a beautiful day and a marvelous tailwind.
This again is one of those lakes that popped up out of a cornfield.
Sam directing at the unloading spot at the Sinclair Station.
Here is your daily barn. This one didn't have any sides,it was all roof.
We could not miss this rest stop.
Sam got this rest stop by asking a fellow at the house if it was ok to park in the driveway. We haven't had a rest stop with grass in a very long time. Roger, Nancy and Harold rode in and had big smiles on their faces. They had a really great ride. I had to admit I was envious.
This is Nate who Sam got permission from to use the driveway. Doogie is smoozing him for a snack.
This was in the town of Big Sone City. The statues represent each branch of the service.
This is an old grist mill that was restored in the town.
This area of Minnesota is a mining town for granite
Good bye South Dakota. Hello Minnesota. This is our Seventh state to ride in.

Suzanne and Nevin rode around and a fellow they ran into suggested this beautiful Restaurant on the lake for Dinner. It was called The Lakeshore Supper Club. This view was outside the window where our table was.
Q
This the Resturant from the lake side. The gentleman who owns this place also built it. The logs he turned himself. This was a lovely way to end the day. Tomorrow we are off to Willmar. 77 miles.
