August 22 Day 52 Lockport NY to North Rochester NY 65 Miles 465 Climbing

Getting out of Lockport we road across the widest bridge in the country. You can't tell because the road in this photo is actually the bridge that crosses over the Erie Canal.
The Erie Canal is 336 miles from Albany New York to Buffalo NewYork on Lake Erie. The bike path runs the entire length of the canal.
No barn today. However we did spot this little wooden ship along the trail.
Along the trail they have some interesting story boards telling the history of the canal.
Hard pack road was the main feature. We got pretty dusty by the end of the day.
This big ole apple was dedicated to the farmers along the canal that helped this area prosper.
We found this water fall running under the bridge and into the canal,
Spotted this mural in the town of Brockport.
Seeing this tree reminded us that fall will come to this area very soon.
We watched this bridge come up so the boat below in the next photo could pass.

I told these two to smile. They ask us where we re headed. We told him Portland Maine. They told us to have a nice ride.
At each road crossing these little signs were posted
A little history for you.
Jean and Paul Myketin  joined us two days ago. They are good friends from Dallas. They were not able to join us for the whole trip. We are so pleased they could be here for the final leg of the BBBRAA?

This is part of the Genesse bike trail in Rochester NY. We had a bit of confusion about which way to go. With the help of a stranger we got on the right track and made it to the hotel.
The evening found us at a Restaurant called Hose 22 Firehouse Brian and Judy Rapp recommended it to us. The firehouse was built in 1916. It was in operation till 1962. A fire damaged it and it was bought and refurbished and opened in 2007. It's fun to look around. In the photo on the back wall you can see the old fire bell.Brass poles are still there and many people have donated memorabilia to the Restaurant.
We took Pete there for dinner. He will be celebrating his 70 th birthday tomorrow.
The old fire house as it looks today. We are back  at the hotel, we need to sleep well. Tomorrow is a 93 mile day. Good night.
