August 8 Day 38 Kendall WI to Portage WI 65 miles 2700 climbing

Today we ride this trail again to the end. Roger,Larry,Sharon and her husband Rob who joined us at the beginning of the week rode highway 33.
Today the trail was not as shady. That was great because it was chilly when we started out.
Lavalle is one of the small towns along the trail. It reminded Jim and I of a good friend who is in Afghanistan flying Chinooks. His name is Andre Lavallee. Hi Andre, be safe.
Ran into Mel on the trail. He is a friend of Chris's. Mel is 90 years old and still rides and also still leads group rides. Awesome!
Humphrey is on the bike because Thursday is our hump day on the BBBRAA. Today I bought a annual pass for the trail system. These passes are good for snowmobile, cross country, in addition to hiking and cycling. The monies from the passes help maintain and promote additional trails. All for the price of $20.00. Sounds like a great idea for Texas.
Today was a barn festival for me. It was tough to choose the best. I noticed that some families have their names on their barns. I've seen it in Indiana.
Mike Blain owns the house we are staying in for the next few days. Those who live in Milwaukee will go home "The Texans" will ride out of here.
A view of the back of his home. It backs up to the Wisconsin River in an area called The Dells
A little more relaxed time now. We won't have to move our belongings each day. Just ride and enjoy the countryside

  1. Hi Rhonda and Jim,

We're in Basalt, CO as part of our extended summer trip (http://m-twodesign.com/blog). We were riding up Frying Pan River Road the other day and ran in to John Rader and his son Will. John said to say hello to you!

We are enjoying Rhonda's comments and photos. 1900 miles... amazing!

    Cheers, Marc and Susie
