August 4 Day 34 Lakeville MN to Lake City MN. 100 miles 3344 climbing

This morning we are rolling out as a group. I was able to get ahead of everyone in order to get this shot. Boy that was a lot of work.
We split up a bit, but regrouped to have this photo before we crossed the Mississippi into Wisconsin.
This is a new bridge that are they are just finishing. You can see the older one off to the right of the picture.
We are in Wisconsin!
Over the river this is a bridge they raise and lower vertically to  accomodate  river traffic.
We found this sculpture made of litter gathered our of the Mississippi. It's in a nature preserve along the river
This was also in the nature preserve . They called it the butterfly bench.
A photo of my Garmin showing I had just ridden 1900 miles on this ride across America.
Lake Pipen is part of the Mississippi. It was formed for glacial waters of the Chippewa bringing in silt and debris into the gorge.
We followed the route that would let us do 100 miles for today. We traveled this scenic byway on highway 35. There was quite a bit of climbing, more that we anticipated. We stopped at this park dedicated to Laura Ingalls Wilder.
I was so hungry when we got to this point I told Harold I wanted a hot dog. He said nothing was open. In the park it looked like a family reunion. I told them I was going to ask them if they had a hot dog. I walked up to this lady and asked. She said she didn't but she has some Bar B Q. Her name was
Mary Ann. She told us it was a reunion because her cousin from Stockholm Sweden was visiting. It's interesting Mary Ann lives in a town down the road called Stockholm. When we finished our sandwich and said our goodbyes Nancy said she has never crashed a party before.
As we were leaving the park this park bench was at the entry of the park. Extra cushiony.
Back across to Minnesota to the hotel we would be spending our rest day in. We had about 20 more miles to go. We were ready to be there. The ride was longer than we anticipated. With all the stops and extra hilly terrain we were getting really tired.
Across the Mississippi once again and headed in. Tonight and tomorrow promise to be a bit rainy.
We are pleased it is our rest day.
