August 23 Day 53 North Rochester NY to Syracuse (Fairmont) 100 Miles 2150 climbing

This morning we are escorted out of town by this fellow, Gene. Chris and Mary met him last night at dinner. He was excited to get us over to the Erie Canal Trail.  It was a very leisure ride out of town.
Ever wonder how many people it takes to change a flat. Usually it's how many are there.
Finally on the trail. This portion of the trail was quite different from yesterday's. Lots of trees covering the trail and many more houses along Canal.
Our first road block. These ducks did not move at all. They could care less.
Canadian Geese are a little more intimidated by us. They did not hesitate to move.
A mural of this little town off a wooden fence.
Found these falls as we went along the trail.
Lots a bridges along the trail today. At
Third road block of the day.
We were on the trail and came up on this little harbor. It dead ended into a mural, we first thought it was real. People and all.
Mike found a nice park along the trail for lunch. He had trouble getting cell reception so he stood on top of the picnic table. It worked!
Patrick, Suzanne, Larry, Jim and I got away from the cue sheet. Patrick found a route that would save us some time. Found this barn with all kinds of stuff on the sides and  in the yard around it.
These are the fanciest scarecrows I've ever seen. A bride and groom. While we were riding Jim got a call from Roger. He and Harold followed the cue sheet and said the trail became very rough. We told him we took a different route. We were happy we had changed.
When I took this photo I didn't know the acolt was there as well.
This ride took an interesting turn. It got a little longer than we expected. We got "misplaced" and with the help of a couple of guys they helped us get to the hotel . We were wupped. We got 100 miles in.This is the latest we have ever gotten in from a ride. 5:30 and there were still others coming in! This day ended in a restaurant celebrating Pete's official 70th birthday. It ending early because everyone was eager to get to bed. We have another long day tomorrow.
