August 10 Day 40 Ride to Devil's Lake and back 47 miles 2510 climbing

Today we took our time to go ride. We are going to ride to Devil's Lake. I checked and found that the reason they call it Devil's Lake is the Ho Chunk nation called it Spirit Lake. They have celebrations that have been held there for many generations. They claim they hear spirits during the celebrations.
Still having a wonderful barn experience. This one won the pick today.
Ride day for Sam. It sure was fun to have him join us. It great riding the rolling hills of Wisconsin.
This isn't the largest one. However it is the only ball of barb wire I have ever seen.
The road into Devil's Lake was beautiful. A long road with the sun peaking through the trees made the temperature just right.
At the lake we found people training for the Iron Man Wisconsin coming up. The lake is known for water sports, fishing, hiking and rock climbing. Heading back we stopped in a little town called Merrimack. The ferry runs here and we will take it across tomorrow to head to Milwaukee.  Had great hot dogs for lunch in a small cafe there.
This windmill looks like it's in pretty good shape. Reality is the angle I took it at made it look that way. Actually it was falling apart.
This is a tree farm. Maybe we will see some of them for the holidays in Texas.
Going down County Road "U" we paralleled the Wisconsin River.
