August 21 Day 51 Niagara-on-the-Lake ON to Lockport NY 40 Miles 1077 Climbing

We all slept in this morning not a long ride today. Mike was up and at 'em getting things ready for the ride today. Jim is riding with him to make sure he is comfortable with everything.
Across the water is Fort Niagara, the American side. The history is the Americans captured the Canadian fort and the Americans would capture their fort.
Standing guard at the Canadian Fort George.
Not many corn fields. But they do have the winery's here. I need to look in the stores when I get back,
I don't think I have ever seen Canadian wine in Texas.
These are power lines extending from the dam across the river.
The Niagara River makes a bend at this point. The fish that swim down the river get caught in this whirlpool and swim in circles. It is a great place to drop a line.
Riding into to the Canadian side of Niagara the tall buildings look like something out a movie in the future.
We all gathered at an Applebee's for lunch. Please note that Harold is drinking his first Corona on this trip. Roger was amused, seems Harold had some unsavory things to say about drinking Corona.
I did ask him if was as good as the Flappin' Crappie he had a few weeks back. He said it was really good right now because it was really cold.
I found this chart interesting. It shows the erosion of the falls since 1678
Last night we got to see the falls with lights. That was pretty, however this is awesome.
We all gathered back at the bikes and now we are at the Rainbow Bridge to head back to the U.S.A.
Somewhere someone was told that we needed to use the pedestrian walk with our bikes. Harold got his bike caught in the turnstile. Right when that happened we found out we needed to go where the vehicles went. Harold got his bike unstuck and off we went. We were going down the side of the bridge and motorist would try to block us. I decided to go down the middle ( Jim taught me that move in France). That worked great! Only one fellow tried to block us. We slipped around the back of his car and went on around. I was the first one to talk with the guard, he asked about all the bikes and I told him our story. He was impressed. Everyone one went through quickly after that.
Not many barns today. So here is a new one, an old one and a mini one.
When we arrived at the hotel we had to wait on Jim and Mike with the truck and trailer. Unfortunately they could not slip between all the vehicles like we did. They were there for an hour and a half.
I was sitting on the ground at the hotel when this couple walked up. I suddenly realized it was Brian and Judy Rapp. Brian and Jim were in Viet Nam together. They met on the plane going over to Nam. Their friendship is very close and runs deep. Brian and Judy have been following the Blog and figured out where we would be. They found us by looking for a motel that had bikes around it. Their timing was amazing. We went out to dinner with them and made plans to see them on the way home from Portland Maine.  Thank you so much for coming to see us Brian and Judy. See ya later.
We are in Lockport this evening. Tomorrow we will ride down the Erie Canal.
