July 6 Day 6 Hermiston OR to Walla Walla 56 miles 2,000 climbing

Well, I still need to make a correction we were in Hermiston not Hermastat. Glad I finally got that right.
This morning we are headed to Walla Walla. It's short day after yesterday's 100 miler, And that's ok!
Doogie and Diggity are in the truck ready to go. Once we get outside and start getting ready to go, that is where they are. They've had a great time. We'll get them out in the trailer soon.
We'll probably pull them with the tandem. It is terribly hot now.
The best thing about this trip? We know we are headed East.
Found this little fixer upper on the way.
This is a recreation area on the river. Below there are people camping the swimming floods great.
This was s about 20 miles into the ride this morning.
This made me think of the Grand Canyon. How many millions of years it will be before the Columbia could carve out a comparable canyon?
Ok, I have got to explain this onion. From the first day out we kept seeing one lonesome onion on the road, out in the middle of no where. This one was probably making it's way to Walla Walla.
Walla Walla is known for it's sweet onions.
Keith said he had seen a 40 foot semi loaded with onions. So I guess some decide to roll on their own.
This is just some of the landscape changes that are happening as we head away from the river.
Jim won this climb! Tomorrow is our first rest day. We are all ready to relax and recharge.

  1. Great shot of Doogie & Diggity in the truck.
Love your sense of humor on the fixer upper and the rolling onion. Hope y'all enjoy your day off before it's time to roll on again...
