July 20 Day 20 Roundup MT. to Forsyth MT. 102 Miles 1460 climbing

This is Roger Hardman one of the Texas bunch. We've known Roger for many years through RBM. He is a good friend. He is fun to have here. Always ready with a smile and sparkly blue eyes.
This field was filled with mares with their young colts.
For much of our morning ride, these out croppings of rocks were a major part of the landscape.
When we talked about riding the tandem we were sure we were going to have easy rollers and a tailwind. Needless to say it more climbing than we anticipated. This was the start of many today.
Along the way we so many of these little houses and barns, some were abandon like this one or so dilapidated you  try to imagine what happened to these homesteads and the people who lived in them.
The Melstone Cafe is a place that Chris Kegel and  his daughter and her friends stopped, when they rode across 3 years ago. He talked with them and when we arrived they had ice tea and lemonade and cookies for us when we came through.
This is Sherry who owns the Cafe. She and her husband own a farm 4 miles away. They have raised alfalfa in the past. Now he raises Elk pretty much like pets, because they don't sell them they just keep them on their land. As we were getting ready to leave she told us there wasn't anything east of their place.
Boy Howdy!  She waS right there is nothing here.
We were riding along ( out in the middle of nowhere ), when we spotted these antelope up under a wash out in a dry stream keeping out of the sun and heat.
This was an old abandon school, again out in the middle of no where. Wonder what happened.
This is right outside of Forsyth the town we would be spending the night in. You would have to look real close there are tons of swallows nesting on the ledges of this rock.
The city of Forsyth is k own as the City of Trees. This is true as we rode into the area we followed the Yellowstone River. The trees crop up along the landscape. There is a fair happening  think we would like to go. However I think dinner and a relaxing evening is in order. Tomorrow, are you ready, an easy day of 48 miles. To Miles City, Mt., we just found out a a great friend Kurt Hansen was born.
