July 2,2013 Tuesday Day 2 Longview OR to Vancouver WA. 63 miles 2345 climbing

Ok it's day 2 and we are ready to roll. The route changed a bit and we are actually headed back into Portland. It's cloudy and cool, however we know that it is going to warm up soon. It is a flat day today.
Jim and I are on the tandem today.
Bike Mart is on it's way. Looks like a tour company doesn't it. We will meet up with Keith and Martha
in a little town called Warren.
Got Logs? This is the Washington side of the Columbia River. This is one of many place along the river.
When the logging trucks fly by it really smells good from all the pine.

This it the bridge we crossed yesterday. Now we are headed back over to  Oregon. We keep running into parts of the Lewis and Clark trail. Jim and I traveled down the Bitter Root in Montana. That was part of the Lewis and Clark trail. It brings back great memories of that self contained trip.

This is the little town of Warren. Keith and Martha were able to set up a stop in a church parking lot.
Here we are traveling over th St.Johns Bridge! This was a really long bridge. It was 48 miles into a 63 mile day. We all took a break under the bridge at Cathedral Park.

Nothing like a good puppy licking to cool off.

This is our good friend Roger Hardman and Jim relaxing in Cathedral Park. We still have a few miles to go before we get to the hotel
We stopped at a pub for lunch. Look at this really cool bike rack!
We arrive at our hotel and unfortunately they won't let the pups in so. We are going to stay in the camper tonight. It's funny Jim and I are quite comfortable in the camper.
Tomorrow we head out and will be off the busy roads we have been on the last 2 days.Yahoo

  1. Rhonda, your blogging rocks! We just started from the beginning this evening and are enjoying the ride. Love your positive spin on the logging trucks. Wish we could have thought of that in New Zealand!
Looking forward to following along, Susie & Marc
