Retread/5th Wheel Adventures March 2nd thru March 8th

B
On Monday went out for a quick ride late in the afternoon. Decided to go to MorrisRanch Rd.
Riding out from our Trailer it was 6 miles to the turn. Going down Hwy 16 it was quite busy, it is the main road between Fredericksburg and Kerrville. MorrisRanch road is a great road to cycle down. The traffic lite and the little bit you encounter will always have a wave for you. The proper way to wave is to rest your wrist on the steering wheel. That will allow your hand to raise up and wave while still in control These buzzards up in the dead Live Oak were not interested in me.
Watched me ride by with little interest.
Weathering through the same awfull freezing cold the rest of Texas was going through, we were suffering from trailer fever. We went window shopping and also saw another movie. "The Kingsman"', a fun spy movie. Our plans for Friday, we to go to Enchanted Rock. Jim and I have been coming to the Hill Country for over 30 years. This is the first time we have taken the time to walk up Enchanted Rock. Here is Doogie and Jim at the top. Doogie is like a tugboat and helped Jim get to the top easily. Diggity and I went our usual picky pace. Diggity did great, the cool weather made the ole 13 year old get all the way up and down without a hitch.
Enchanted Rock is a massive pink granite dome. The largest in the country. There are many legends about why it is called "Enchanted". The one I like is the Indians of the area thought it was sacred and spirits lived there. There were moaning noise emitting from it at different times. Reality the temperature changes would make the rock expand and contract causing those "moaning sounds".
The land goes forever.

I am not known for my hiking abilities. So here I am at the top. We will be going down the rock behind me. Now we gotta go down. Oh Boy!
We got off the path and the walking became more of a crawl for me in some instances. We made it.
About 4 hours we were out. We were all tired puppies when we got in the truck to head back into town.
Can't resist a beautiful sunset.  This is taken at the end of our trailer.

Friday evening at home we can be found at Rockfish with our favorite bartender "Leo" and a group of friends, Karen,Vicky and Jamie. Tonight we found the Buffalo Nickle Bar and Grill. Brian the bartender
Took care of us well. Cheers! To everyone back home. We will see you at the end of March
It's Saturday and the temperature is civilized and we are off for a ride. Sunday and Monday will be rainy so we are loking for a day of exploring some roads we haven't been down in a long time
We are riding down a road called Pfister. On the map is shows that it connects to a road called Kott Rd. We found where it ended. There was a gate that had a huge sign that said "keep gate closed".
We went through it and road to another gate. Again it had the same sign. What made us turn around,
The road on the other side of that gate looked to be more of a jeep path. We decided to go back and explore some other roads we passed. Most of those roads were leading to some beautiful homes.
We eventually rode on to MorrisRanch and made our way back to the Trailer.
We roads through the Gillespie Airport that is right next to the park where we are camped. We noticed a bunch of Corvettes parked at the hotel there. What caught our eye was a vintage Bi-plane. People were loading up for a ride in it. When we got back to the trailer we saw it land and load up and fly over several more times. It was a perfect day for flying. The clouds did eventually come in and the temperatures start dropping. Was a good day for all, people got to fly, pup dogs got to go for some good long walks and most important Mr. jimmy and I got a great ride in.
The weather for Sunday and Monday is rainy and Tuesday on will clear up and get warm. We are really
Looking for this next week to get under way.
