The guys are out surf fishing today. They are very serious about this. It is amazing how many fish they catch.
Stopping at a place called Dirty Al's for lunch, the sea gulls are very patient.
This pirate adventure ship came by. They were fun.
They fired their cannons at us and yelled"Aaarggh" a lot!
We are traveling up the bay. This swing bridge only one of 5 in the country that is operational. The shrimping industry thrives here.
This raggedy looking little boat still makes a good living.
When we started out on this boat they threw out some nets to see what they would pull up. This little star nettle was part of that catch. It's lost part of its leg. It's ok, it will grow a new one.
This drilling platform has been stored here since the oil prices have dropped. The rig will drill down at a depth of 9,000 feet to find oil. If it does they will cap it off. Then the platform below will come out an continue drilling and pumping oil.
One tiny little hermit crab made it into the nets as well. The crew will put everything they caught back into the waterThis little guy swam with us for the longest. The guide on the boat was telling us the Dolphins are not a cuddly as they looking. He had seen them take a huge red snapper at toss it back and forth between each other like a football.
On the water.
Were equally excited by the number of Dolphins we saw.
The next day we spent the morning repositioning our trailer. The way we were situated we could not drop our tailgate. With the help of Jeff next to us we got it done. It was fun he taught Jim a trick to moving back that a "woman" taught him.
Each morning Doogie and I walk down the the beach. Last night a dense fog rolled in. It was still quite thick when we walked down this morning. In this photo if you look really hard you can see the shrimp boat in the fog.
Clouds are rolling in and the weather is changing for the next few days. Each day we have ridden the beach any where from 15 to 30 miles. The mountain bikes on the beach are more efficient, but still
The sand makes it a lot of work and a whole lot of fun.
Thursday we drove into Brownsville to look around. We wanted to see the USS Constellation where is was moored. We we not able to find it. Headed back to the "house" we will settle in for a cold, blustery evening. I made another pot of turkey chili for dinner, appropriate for January, thankfully there is no snow or ice here and by Monday we will be back into the 70's. We are looking for Gerald and Mary Lynn's arrival on Sunday.
